Newest Project: Silky O' Sullivan's on Beale Street

Silky O'Sullivan liked my art enough to give me a call the other day and see if I would be interested in doing a piece on his place on Beale Street.  So after meeting him and getting a better feel of what he had in mind and what I could do with it in a painting, we shook hands..........

So, I began taking the reference pics to use in laying out this enormous complex.


After a few sketches.... this is what I came up with.

2011 Memphis Blues Awards

This is the finished painting that will be the '2011 Memphis Blues Awards' poster on 5/5/2011.  I wanted the art & poster to reflect the fact that it is held in Downtown Memphis, so I incorporated - in my own style - most of the notable buildings downtown (the Pyramid, UP, Morgan Keegan, 1st Tenn, Sterick, and old Horizon).  It was a slight take off of the poster that I did for the '2009 Telluride Blues & Brews Festival'.

ART - 'IN THE WORKS'

This is the 'rough draft' of the poster for the '2011 Blues Music Awards' to be held 5/5/2011 in Memphis.  Soon the colors will begin and we'll see what happens.
